Natives:
In the year 1551, when the smallpox disease reached
continental America, 92% of the native population in Santander died.
The Guanes were the most important natives in
Santander.

The inhabitants that make up this region are a
mixture of Spaniards with indigenous Guanes, Yariguíes, Agataes, Chitareros,
Chipataes and Laches. For them is
really important their roots, and it's a reason to be proud about.
- What indentifies them?
- Santanderianidad days: From 10th May to 14th May
- Hardworkers : Known as one of the most hardworkers in Colombia
- Especific accent: Santander people tend to speak very loudly, which is mistakenly known as being angry people. but in reality they are very friendly and happy people

In towns such as Barichara, Charalá, Simacota, San
Gil, intense revolutions were experienced to achieve independence, which
Santander was very important to create our nation.
